The animal that's right for you

Whether you are a beginner or already own a reptile, here is a simple guide to helping you find the right reptile for you.

Royal Python

Ease of care: Beginner

The Royal Python (Python regius) has a docile, shy nature. In many other countries they are also known as the ‘Ball Python’ as they often curl up into a ball like pose. Their natural habitat consists of grasslands and open forest areas. A semi-arboreal species, they can be found on the forest floor but will also climb trees and bushes to hunt for food. Ensure their enclosure has low level logs and branches to provide enrichment. The Royal Python has been successfully kept and captive bred for many years, this has provided an array of colour morphs available, ‘banana’, ‘champagne’ and ‘pastel’ being a few that are widely available.
