The animal that's right for you

Whether you are a beginner or already own a reptile, here is a simple guide to helping you find the right reptile for you.

Corn Snake

Ease of care: Beginner

The Corn Snake (Patherophis guttatus) takes it's name from it's regular presence near grain stores, where the species preyed on mice and rats which ate the harvested corn. In their natural habitat, they can also be found in fields, forests and flat plains with burrows. A very popular species of snake which has been successfully kept in captivity for many generations. Long term captive breeding projects have provided an array of colour morphs, from ‘snow’ to ‘butter’ and ‘candy cane’ are just a few that are widely available.
