Garter Snake

Ease of care: Intermediate

The Garter Snake (Thamnophis sirtalis) can not only survive but can also thrive in extreme weather conditions. In their natural habitat the species can be found in woodland, forests, meadows, marsh and bog land but one thing they always make sure of is they are never far from water. Their diet consists of rodents, amphibians and fish. The Garter Snake is an ovoviviparous species, meaning they bear live young instead of laying eggs like most snakes or reptiles.
