The Hermann’s Tortoise (Testudo hermanni) has a distinct, colourful, black and yellow-patterned shell. A terrestrial species, the Hermann's Tortoise can be found in a wide range of habitats ranging from from grassy meadows to arid, evergreen and often rocky oak forests. In captivity, they love to spend lots of time burrowed down in substrate. The Hermann’s Tortoise has an excellent sense of smell and good all-round vision.
